Trauma and EMDR
Trauma is personal. It does not disappear if it is not validated. When it is ignored or invalidated the silent screams continue internally heard only by the one held captive. When someone enters the pain and hears the screams, healing can begin.
– Danielle Bernock
When a kid plays with friends at school and falls, and the other kids laugh, that is traumatic for them. Being affected by a stressful or traumatic event does not mean you are weak or damaged.
Do you experience intrusive and troubling memories and thoughts of a stressful event from your past? Do past memories vividly disturb you and take you out of balance? Or you find that parts of your childhood memories are blocked. Therapy can help process the memory and take the charging off of it to allow you to take control back over your life.

What is EMDR?
EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) was developed by Francine Shapiro in the 1980s to treat clients who experienced trauma. It is a highly researched modality that allows clients to process trauma safely without needing to discuss their traumatic or stressful experiences in detail. I am a certified clinical traumatologist working from a trauma-informed and anti-oppressive lens. In our sessions together, I will use EMDR, CBT, and mindfulness to help you gain stabilization in the trauma symptoms, process the traumatic memories and learn practical tools to manage the stress and gain control over your present and future life.
